The Old Mahabalipuram Road (OMR) in Chennai is also known as Rajiv Gandhi Salai which has a length of about 45 Km and in short form it is OMR. It started as a small fishing village way and it connects Chennai City and Mahabalipuram Town, We all know that Mahabalipuram is well-known for its ancient rock-cut temples and monuments. The starting point of OMR is from Southeast Chennai at Madhya Kailash Temple on Sardar Patel.
Many software professionals, predominantly employed in Chennai, and residing within the vicinities of Navulur, Egattur, Sholinganallur, Karapakkam, and Thoraipakkam, were well-acquainted with this information. Metro Rail Connectivity
As of 10.01.2024, Metro Rail Construction is under process in areas like Thoraipakkam, Karapakkam, Sholinganallur, Kumaran Nagar, Navulur, and Egattur. This is phase 2 of metro rail construction which is a length of 118.9 kilometers, The Metro Rail Construction Project is taken up by Larsen & Toubro and they were expected to complete the project in stages from 2025 to 2028.

The Government service Buses are available to travel on OMR. The MTC: Metropolitan Transport Corporation (Chennai) operates 400+ buses and more than 40 bus routes on the Rajiv Gandhi Salai (OMR). AC Buses were also available you can also go through them
